About
W+ Home makes renewable energy more accessible by designing a non-permanent solar panel system that can be installed in any home setting. This was a 14 week long group project conducted by three ArtCenter students.
W+ shades is a modular solar panel system that generates energy from the sun. The energy is then converted and sent to the solar hub to be stored into energy capsules. The capsules are portable energy storage unit that charges devices and has a hotspot. The W+ app connects the community of W+ home owners and acts as a controller for this system while providing data about the energy generation, flow, and consumption.
System Video
You can use app to open and close, have it into different modes, or change angle of the shades.
Design System
Colors were chosen to inspire the feeling of cleanliness and calmness. Light yellow is used for highlight colors to visualize the sunlight energy. CTA and Iconography are rounded to have welcoming look and also have little bit of glow effect to visualize light.
Getting Started
Before you actually get the whole system, you can take pictures and it will estimate the size of the solar shades you need and how much energy generation that will produce yearly.
Home Features
After installing the system, the app will be connected to the whole system. Your Home screen will contain the overview of your flow generation. It will also show how much shade is generating energy and what percentages the hub and capsules are charged to. You can also look into Energy usages, generation, and savings.
Shades Features
You can close, open, tilt the angle, or put into auto mode for the shade with this app.
Shades Features
If you have more than one shades installed at home, you can control each one.
Hub and Capsule Features
Hub and capsule features will also display charging percentages.
